In Counting to Four, it says you should have three kids or more. Why?
God has commanded us to grow life. We are given life, and so too we give life. This can happen in many ways, and we should strive to grow life in all ways that we can. If you grow life in some ways, but cut it off in other ways on purpose, then you’re already getting farther from the fullness of life. Would you like for one half of your body to be dead? Or do you want every part to be filled with life? So we must grow life in every way that we can: worship, kids, and work.
Kids is one of those ways. But why should we have three or more? Why not two, or one? Or why should we even have kids?

Let’s take a couple. Two lives being joined together. They have two kids. When the couple dies, the kids take their place. This couple has maintained life, but they haven’t grown it. Two lives came in, and two lives came out. There’s no growth, and there’s no decay yet. But they haven’t followed God’s command to grow life.

Take another couple. They have one kid. When they die, the one kid takes their place. But not fully. This couple hasn’t maintained life. Two lives came in, but only one life comes out. There has been a loss of life. Instead of growth, there’s decay. They haven’t followed God’s command to grow life.

Let’s take a third couple. They don’t have any kids. Since they don’t have kids, the life they’ve been given ends with them. Two lives came in, but no life came out. Now those lives have gone away, and instead of growing life, there’s only death. They definitely haven’t followed God’s command to grow life.

Now let’s look at one more couple. They have three kids. When they die, the kids take their place. Not only that, this couple has grown life. Two lives came in, and now three lives are coming out! This couple was given life, and now they’ve added to it. There’s no death or decay, but instead, the growth of life. This is the only couple which has followed God’s command to grow life.
We are given life, and so too we must give life. The more life we give, the more beautiful the world becomes. God is the life of the world, and loves the growth of life. So have three kids to grow life. Or have four to grow it some more. Or five, or six. Or however many kids God gives. But don’t cut yourself off from life. Grow life.
