Belief in vs Belief that

The Babylon System likes to play a trick. It tells you that believing in God is the same thing as believing that he exists. Know that these are different things.

An elderly man in a green robe and red hat is seated at a wooden table, counting coins and holding a pair of scales. Shelves filled with books are visible in the background, along with a window showing a distant street scene.

You tell you friend, “I believe in you!” What are you saying? Are you telling her that you believe she exists? “Hey, buddy. I know that you exist!” Is that really what you’re telling her? Or are you telling her something else? That you believe in what she’s capable of. That no matter how difficult the problem, she’s a rockstar. She’ll come out on top. You trust her, and you’re willing to give her your support. Clearly this is what you’re saying. You’re not telling her that you believe she exists. And say you have a million dollars lying around unused, and she’s trying to build a business. She asks you for an investment, and you tell her “I believe in you,” but you’re too scared to give her any money. You don’t think she will succeed. Do you actually believe in her, or are you just saying that?

The same with God. Believing in God is different than saying that he exists. Believing in God changes the way that you act. God holds up his end of the deal, and you hold up yours. You’re not scared to invest your time in God. You’re not afraid to give your energy. You’re not scared to invest your money in God, because you know that God will give back more than whatever you invest in him. Whatever you give up now, you know that God will bring you something 100 times better. Being a citizen of his Kingdom is better than being a citizen of Babylon. Believing in God means asking why you’d ever in a million years invest in Babylon when you could be investing in God.

An actual belief in God transforms the way you act. This is different than just saying that you believe God exists. Believing that God exists doesn’t really matter. Yeah, you believe that God exists. Okay. Now what? Is this just a random idea? Will you go back to living an uninspired life now that you’ve said that you believe God exists? Why should anyone care about that?

The Babylon System loves to drag people down into death. It distracts you so that it can limit you. When it limits you, you have nowhere else to go but down. The farther you are from God’s Kingdom, the happier it becomes. Don’t just believe that God exists. Make peace with God. Believe in God.
